Bereavement Workshop: Accompaniment during the Grieving Process

The offices for Evangelization and Catechetical Ministry and Liturgy and Spirituality are co-sponsoring a bereavement workshop for parish leadership teams and those serving in bereavement ministry.  In light of the enormous grief that was experienced due to the worldwide pandemic, this workshop will assist in exploring the complexities around the dying experience during this time. The disruption of the normal grieving processes has led to a greater need for accompaniment. This workshop will center on the following aspects: Recognize and acknowledge the different forms of grief, explore the bereavement process for the dead and dying, practical ways in which parish ministers can accompany parishioners, best practices for parish ministers in preparation for November 2^nd All Souls Day, and Q&A.  *This workshop will begin with a commemorative Mass honoring the 20^th anniversary of the September 11^th tragedy and will be presided by Auxiliary Bishop John Dolan.
